Osprey’s final week of free eBooks

For the last month, the great people at Osprey Publishing have been giving away five free eBooks every week to give everyone something read while stuck at home due to COVID-19. Ranging from subjects like the Samurai, to Waterloo, to WW2 battleships, they’ve been a wonderful distraction from the current craziness, so thank you Osprey for running this great little initiative. Here are the final five you can look to pick up:

AEU 15: Jagdgeschwader 52 by John Weal

This book follows the exploits of the Jagdgeschwader 52, who can claim to be the most successful and highest scoring fighter unit in history, having shot down approximately 9000 enemy aircraft. But little has been written about them in the English language. The text explores the unit and its members, including their top three, who were part of an astonishing 900 victories between them.

CAM 200: Japan 1945 by Clayton K. S. Chun

The 200th installment of the Campaign series explores the final years of the war, and the allied approach towards bringing about a Japanese surrender. Examining Operation Downfall and the invasion of the Japanese islands, the book comes to explore how the horrific alternative to invasion was devised, with the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

CBT 27: Viking Warrior vs Anglo-Saxon Warrior by Gareth Williams

Before the Norman Invasion, Anglo-Saxons and Vikings clashed frequently, finally culminating in the Battle of Stamford Bridge. This book details the equipment, strategies, and military organisation of both sides, as well as the three most significant battles to occur between them: Ashdown in 871, Maldon in 991, and Stamford Bridge in 1066.

DUE 18: M1 Abrams vs T-72 Ural by Steven J. Zaloga

This book examines the clash that occurred during the Gulf War between the American M1 Abrams and the Soviet T-72 tanks. The M1 Abrams was basically unchallenged, but when the Gulf War came, it met its match. The T-72 could’ve been said to outstrip its opponent in its balance of mobility, protection, and firepower. But as the war went on, the T-72 suffered from poorly trained crews and bad ammunition.

CMD 17: Bill Slim by Robert Lyman

Regarded as one of the greatest generals of WW2, this book explores the career of Bill Slim. Famous for enacting the longest retreat in British military history, in the withdrawal from Burma, and for his defeat of the Japanese in India, this text offers insight into the strategies and key victories which helped make his name.

This week’s selection of free eBooks is now live! Take your pick from a range of titles including a Combat that pits Anglo-Saxon warriors against the Viking and ‘Japan 1945’, the 200th book in the Campaign series: https://t.co/U0pNbSNeMd pic.twitter.com/UelaixQhwD
